Abstract
Hepatodoron® is one of the most proven medicaments
in Anthroposophic Medicine. The formula was given
by Rudolf Steiner and the chemist Oskar Schmiedel
1887–1959) developed it into a medicament for the
treatment of liver diseases. The medicinal plants
named by Rudolf Steiner (or the plant parts – strawberry
and vine leaves) are not typical ‘liver’ plants and
had not been used on this indication before. The question
under discussion is whether wild strawberry and
grapevine have a connection to the liver. The manu -
facture and the pharmaceutical processes used are
considered in addition.
