Zusammenfassung
Mistelextrakte führen nach subkutaner Injektion zu
einer Aktivierung des unspezifischen Immunsystems,
die sich in einer Akute-Phase-Reaktion mit Anstieg
der neutrophilen Granulozyten zeigt. Darüber hinaus
kommt es zu einer Aktivierung des spezifischen
Immunsystems, die gekennzeichnet ist durch die
Produktion von Antikörpern gegen Mistelinhaltsstoffe
(Aktivierung von B-Zellen), eine Vermehrung der Anzahl
an T-Helferzellen und den Anstieg der eosinophilen
Granulozyten im Blut. In vitro wurde zudem die
Neutralisierung immunsuppressiver Faktoren von
Tumorzellen auf dendritische Zellen durch Mistel -
extrakte gezeigt. Aus den klinischen und experimentellen
Befunden ergeben sich rationale Ansätze für
den Einsatz von Mistelpräparaten bei Tumorpatienten
und für künftige klinische Studien.
Abstract
Mistletoe extracts given by subcutaneous injection
activate the nonspecific immune system, as evident
from an acute-phase reaction with an increase in granulocytes.
The specific immune system is also activated,
as evident from the production of antibodies to mistletoe
constituents (activation of B cells), an increase in
T helper cells and elevation of the eosinophilic granulocyte
count in the blood. In-vitro studies also showed
neutralization of immunosuppressive factors of
tumour cells on dendritic cells due to mistletoe
extracts. The clinical and experimental data suggest
rational approaches to the use of mistletoe preparations
for tumour patients and for future clinical trials.
