Abstract
Copper was the first metal being processed by man, it is the respiration metal for many lower animals (molluscs and arthropods), and a copper compound is necessary for the first step in the respiratory chain of the higher animals and man. So, for the development of technology, in the evolution of life and for the respiratory chain copper was and is a forerunner for iron. “The nature of copper is to prepare the road for iron” (Otto Wolff). Many copper containing minerals and chemicals are used in anthroposophic medicine (Tab. 1). Cuprum aceticum and vegetabilised copper (Tabacum Cupro cultum) are used against pulmonary diseases. The volatile alkaloid nicotine of tobacco is described as a possibility to understand the relationship between tobacco and Venus.
