Zusammenfassung
Alfred Russel Wallace und Charles Darwin haben 1858
und 1859 mit der Beschreibung des Selektionsfaktors
innerhalb der natürlichen Evolution der Organismen
erste Grundlagen für das Verständnis des vorzeitigen
Todes in der Natur gelegt. Sie entwarfen damit die
Anfänge einer biologischen Todeskunde, der Thana -
tologie.
Abstract
In 1858 Alfred Russel Wallace and in 1859 Charles
Darwin pointed out the major role of natural selection
in the evolution of all organisms. This provided a
basis for understanding the very frequent premature
deaths in nature, establishing thanatology within bio -
logy. Darwin transferred the survival of the fittest by
eliminating the unfit also to the evolution of human
culture, whereas Wallace refused this transfer, avoiding
the danger of social Darwinism.
Rudolf Steiner developed a comprehensive thanato -
logy in 1912, including all four natural realms, thus
differentiating the ethical problems concerning all
instances of death, which leads to four levels of therapeutic
methods in oncology. This multiperspectivity
is basic for all integrative medicine
